Wishing you all a thankful thanksgiving

Nothing to report in terms of where we are going to be living in a months time as we still don't know whether Jon's work will allow him to work from San Fransisco...they have a tendency to be rather disorganized so we're just gonna see what happens and either way feel excited that we will be moving somewhere new.

In the mean time we have been trying to see more of this part of America before we leave it. We've been for a couple of 4WD trips in the desert and have just come back from an awesome trip out to 3 National parks in Utahand Arizona.

We're painting the lounge back to apartment white this weekend and also having a little (wishful) farewell drink session...not at the same time mind you. And then it is Thanksgiving on the 24th which apparently you must spend with friends and family being thankful. Our friends we are all off with their families so it looks like we'll be buying Tahi some posh turkey cat food and having a small family Thanksgiving...we'll be sure to toast to you all.

Love Sarah and Jon xxx

Road Trip!

Jon, Amy and I went for a trip to the neighbouring state Utah to visit Bryce, Zion and The Grand Canyon National Parks. We stayed in a small town in between the 3 parks and then did a day at each. This is us on our first day taking a dirt road to Bryce.

It was snowing at times...great to be away from desert and have green and cool for a change.

After a few drinks we decided it would be a great idea to make a train out of Jon's electric chair, manual chair and hotel chair on wheels which were all held together with some bungy cords. Then the 3 of us headed into town in search of the local pub - in our train which we promptly crashed. Still wanting some excitement we abandoned our train and went for a stroll - we found no pubs but this lovely dog instead!

Our Second Day was spent at The Grand Canyon... all I could do was walk around with a stupid grin on my face giggling while Jon remained his usual laid back self because he'd been there twice already.

The photos really give you no idea of how deep it is..you'll just have to go there yourself and check it out because it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen.

Our last day was spent at Zion National Park where instead of looking down into a canyon you drive in at the bottom and look up.

Pumpkin carving! The locals were trying to get into the Guinness Book of Records for the most carved pumpkins...not sure if they did but it was a cool sight.

This is very typical of Vegas...desert then lines of same same houses all jammed in with Strip in the background.
